How can I login to one of the library databases when I am not on campus?

Answer

You can access databases off campus via Locate or your subject LibGuide. In most cases, you will find you are automatically redirected to the Coventry University Authentication Services page where you just need to enter your Coventry University username and password in the normal way.

If you are not automatically redirected, on the database landing page look for an option that offers 'Log in via your institution' or 'Institutional sign in' (N.B. sometimes this may be referred to as log in via Open Athens/ Shibboleth). Using this option, search for Coventry University - selecting the institution name will then result in a prompt for your log in details.

If you have any difficulty accessing a database remotely you can look it up on Locate to check whether there are any specific instructions provided. Do a Locate search for the database (search its name or browse the Database A-Z), and, once you find it, scroll to the 'View it' section to look at guidance given under 'Authentication notes'.
