Q. How do the issuing machines work?

Answer

To borrow a book using the self-service machines, you need to scan your ID card by placing it in the slot below the screen. When your ID card logs you into the machine, select 'Borrow' and place books in the larger section when asked to do so. The screen will indicate when the books have been added to your account by showing a due return date in green. It will then also print a receipt. To check your account, renew books, or pay a fine, simply scan your card under the card reader and click 'Account' and then select the relevant option. Please note that self-service machines only accept payment with credit/debit cards Payments can only be made on the Ground floor self-service machines. Further information can be found on the Library Essentials LibGuides.
