What is metadata?

Answer

Metadata is the contextual information about the data that will help others to find and understand it. It often includes information such as the creator of the data, what is the data about, if there are any restrictions on the use of the data, and details on methodologies and standards. Metadata fields may differ between different disciplines. More information can be found on our Research and Scholarly Publications Team LibGuide
