How do I reference law from non-UK jurisdictions? (APA)

Answer

Existing legal references are typically already written in legal style and require minimal, if any, changes to conform to APA style guidelines.

Cite legislation and legal cases from non-UK jurisdictions as it is cited in its' own jurisdiction, but without any punctuation (full stops) in abbreviations.  If necessary, give the jurisdiction in brackets for clarity.

In-text citation (narrative): In Grenon v Canada, 2025 FCA 129 (CanLII) it was stated that...

 

For cases, the party names are in italics.
